July 2nd, 2009

The Dark Knight is a sequel of Batman Begins made in 2005. The new movie about Batman was inspired by the Joker’s comic book published in 1940’s and the 1996 Long Halloween series.

The filming was done in several places in the U.S., in England and Hong Kong. However, the major part of The Dark Knight was shot in Chicago. For thirteen weeks the crew worked in the city. The production of the film generated $45 million in the Chicago’s economy and gave jobs to thousands of people.

The Dark Knight was greatly accepted by many. Critics at RottenTomatoes have given it 94% positive reviews. Metacritics gave 84% good reviews out of 39 top critics. The opinion of the majority of writers comes together to the words of Jeff Bayer from The Scorecard Review, “The Dark Knight is the best adult superhero film of all time.”

The Batman film was nominated to 150 awards and won half of them. The great work of Heath Ledger as a Supporting Actor was noticed and marked out by many: being nominated to over 30 awards he received 25 of them the most significant of which are Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA.
