Follow Stardust and Find Your Star

July 19th, 2008

Stardust is a romantic story which will be interesting for those who like fantasy movies, historic novels, fairy-tales, adventures or love stories. It is based on a novel written by Neil Gaiman and was made into a film by Paramount Pictures in 2007.

Have you ever heard a young man promising he could get anything in the world to prove his love to you? Or were you this boy who said such high words?

Tristan Thorn, who lives in Wall Village, England, in the XIX century, falls in love with the local beauty and is ready to do anything to win her heart. He promises to bring her the fallen star and Victoria agrees to marry him if she’ll have this star in her hand. Tristan goes on a long trip to accomplish his promise, but he is not the only one to look for the star. Three witches, who want to have eternal life with the help of the girl from heaven, and the princes of Stormhold, who want to become the rulers of the father’s kingdom if they get the ruby from the sky, are going in the same direction to find Tristan’s star.

Stardust was filmed mostly on the territory of Great Britain: at Pinewood Studio in London, in Scottish Highlands and on Isle of Skye. Several small English villages became the prototype for the different towns in the movie. Elm Hill in Norwich with its ancient buildings turned into Stormhold in Stardust. Several scenes were filmed in Iceland.

The movie received high rates from the critics. The audience accepted it very well and worldwide Stardust collected $135.5 million.
