For a while Sex and the City comedy series has been shown on HBO and finally grew into a film which tells the last story about Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her three female friends.

The events take place three years after the show’s finals. The New-York writer Carrie finally gets married to her Mr. Big. The girlfriends are happy for her, but being concerned about their own lives they make Mr. Big doubt about the fact that the wedding was a good idea.

In 2004 when the final episodes of the series were made HBO planned to keep working on the show and maybe shoot a movie out of it. The arrangements took so much time that Kim Cattrall, the actress that played one of the main roles, refused to wait and went to work on the other offer she had at that time. Only in the mid-2007 the possibility of shooting a movie was open again.

Sex and the City was mostly shot in New-York, but the team was trying to keep the storyline in a big secret. They even shot several different endings in order to mess up the paparazzi.

The film has been accepted by public very well. In its opening week-end it was shown in more than 3,200 theatres and collected almost $27 million. The total box-office collection in the U.S. and Canada was $152.6 million. Worldwide theatres grossed $256.3 million.

HBO plans to make a sequel for the film and even wants to keep working on the show.
