Lakeview Terrace for an Interracial Couple
The world is full of right fighters today: somebody protects women’s rights, others say about animal rights, the thirds care about sexual minorities’ rights… And there are definitely people who talk about racism. As a rule, people speak about white people oppressing the others, but Lakeview Terrace offers a different approach.
Abel Turner, an Afro-American LAPD officer (Samuel L. Jackson), thinks everybody has to know his place: white men have to marry white women and back girls should date only black guys. He gets mad when he sees the new neighbors: a young Caucasian man (Patrick Wilson) and his beautiful Afro-American wife (Kerry Washington). Now Abel’s primary goal in life is to destroy his neighbors’ happy family life.
The critics gave mixed reviews to the thriller. The plot was disappointing for many of them and while the beginning seems intriguing by the conclusion it “gets out of control and flies off the deep end” says Bob Bloom, the critic from the Journal and Courier. The actors performed really well and many reviewers admitted Lakeview Terrace offered Samuel L. Jackson “his first decent part in years”.
