The last months of Jesse James’ life were described in the novel written by Ron Hansen in 1983. Warner Bros. and the director Andrew Dominik have adapted it and made a movie with Brad Pitt as Jesse James.

Though the film was supposed to be released in 2006, it took more time and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford came to the theatres only in September, 2007.

$30 million was spent on the filming of the movie, but it was released in a very limited addition and in the 5 theatres where it was shown, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford collected $147,812. The total gross of the film was less than $4 million.

The critics were mostly pleased with the movie and advise it especially to those who like classic “Westerns such as McCabe and Mrs. Miler and The Long Riders”.
