Nancy Drew Comes to the Screen from the Books
Since 1930 and till nowadays teenagers are fond of stories about the young amateur sleuth Nancy Drew who seems to be able to figure out any mystery. There have been written more than 50 books about this young lady by various authors the collective name of which is Carolyn Keene.
Till a few years ago Nancy lived only in books, but then she captured the attention of game-designers. Interesting computer games amazed children and adults letting them go through the mysterious situations by themselves.
In 2006 Warner Brothers created a movie version of Nancy Drew directed by Andrew Fleming. A year later it was released in the theatres.
The story takes place in Los Angeles, but the filming was held in several Californian cities: South Pasadena, Santa Clarita, Long Beach, Burbank and surely the Los Angeles itself.
Nancy Drew is a fine movie which attracts the attention of the children who love solving puzzles, but at the same time it is not interesting and humorous enough for the adults. The critics did not have much positive to say about Nancy Drew besides the fact “it was refreshing”.
Considering how famous the stories are we could expect more worldwide gross than $30 million, but seems like the movie makers did not work hard enough and relied only on the popularity of the books.
