Only in the Fight with Doomsday Superman Proves His Perfection
Warner Bros. Pictures works on different versions of Superman movies for different kinds of audience. In 2006 they made an action film Superman Returns, where they tell the story of the hero coming back from his home planet to help people. A year later the movie makers made an animated picture Superman: Doomsday based on the comic story The Death of Superman.
Though the comic books and tales about heroes are usually aimed for children and teens, Superman: Doomsday was rated PG-13 for action violence and adult language. Some of the scenes of fights were so brutal; they had to be cut out to fit the rating and to pass to be shown on TV.
The critics accepted the film positively. They admitted it was made better than many of the other Superman stories from different movie companies. Several reviews pointed out the good actors’ work; especially they gave credit to James Marsters’ (Lex Luthor) and Adam Baldwin’s (Superman) voices.
At the same time some critics did not like Superman: Doomsday for being too short (only 75 minutes) and the plot which was too far from the original comic story.
