Semi-Pro is another American sport comedy with Will Ferrell in the same stupid and fun style as many of his works: Blades of Glory, Talladega Nights, Semi Brothers, Wedding Crashers, etc. In this film he acts as a singer who spent a good amount of money on a basketball team in Flint, Michigan. Now he and The Tropics have a chance to enter NBA league, but they have to fight for it really hard.

As was expected the film mostly received negative reviews. The critics are tired from the films like this saying “we don’t really need any more of these movies” (Stefan Birgir Stefansson from sbs.is). Semi-Pro was rated R for bad language and sexual content and the critic from Philadelphia Daily News, Garry Thompson commented the rating of the film with the words: “You end up with a movie that is way too simple-minded for adults and way too dirty for kids”.

However on its opening weekend Semi-Pro managed to become number one movie having grossed $15 million. If the film was advertised as much as the other Ferrell’s comedies, it could have collected more, considering Talladega Nights ($47 million in opening weekend) and Blades of Glory ($33 million). In total, Semi-Pro grossed $43.9 million worldwide.
