The Forth, but Might not Be Last: Terminator Salvation

October 25th, 2009

How about Terminator without the actual Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger? The director McG and producers of Terminator Salvation have decided to try such experience in the fourth film of the series which was released in 2009.

The plot is based on the beginning of the machines vs. mankind war. The leader John Connor (Christian Bale) does his best to make sure people survive the war. As in the other films of the series the time-travels are unavoidable, so the people and machines from future come back to past to “fix” what they think should be fixed.

The budget of Terminator Salvation was very high and several movie studios had to put money together to finance it. However, it has proven being worth it, because the world-wide box office collections brought back almost double of the $200 million spent by the companies.

The critics were neutral about the film. At Rotten Tomatoes they gave 32% positive reviews; at the other web-sites they rated it even higher. Most critics “miss” Arnold in Terminator Salvation, saying that the film does not “have a heart”, and that there is too much explosion and shouting there. The positive reviews mark out that the plot is interesting and has a lot of wit just like the previous parts of Terminator story.
