Futurama is one of those creations adored by one group of people and despised by the others. After several seasons of the show the producers decided to shoot a movie. After the success of the Futurama: Bender’s Big Score it was decided to make a few more movies. Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs is the second film in the sequence of four.

The title of the movie is a paraphrased Shakespeare line from Othello “the beast with two backs” which symbolizes sexual intercourse. Although the film has its own “beast” that has to be fought, the line from Shakespeare becomes clear too when the audience finds out that Coleen, Fry’s new girlfriend, meets other guys. More than that, she lives with four of them and when loving Fry joins them to become the fifth one, Coleen goes out to find another boyfriend for herself.

To many critics the second part of Futurama movie was disappointing because it was not a classic film of the genre they were use to. They say that it is a mess plot wise, because one line overlaps the other one without some conclusion. The “laser satire” which Futurama is famous for is not in The Beast with a Billion Backs either. The true Futurama lovers say that even The Beast with a Billion Backs is smart and enjoyable in all, strong or weak points, so it might be worth seeing.
